[edit] History
PSXeven was first released on February 12, 2002 as one of the youngest Sony PlayStation emulators to date. It was programmed and developed by Xeven and was based on the PSXemu Plugin Standard.[1] When first released, PSXeven was just regarded as a normal PSX emulator but now-a-days, the emulator is regarded as one of the best PlayStation emulators among ePSXe and PCSX and one of the most compatible.
[edit] Features
As featured in ePSXe, the emulator can run using many different plugins, ranging from GPU, Sound Processing Unit|SPU, CD drive and Controller plugins. It also runs with PlayStation Emulator Cheater plugin (mostly abbreviated or dubbed as PEC) which uses GameShark codes to cheat on PSX emulators. PSXeven also have a very easy GUI to work with. The emulator also features a Plugin Manager and a Memory Card manager embedded into the emulator itself. The Plugin Manager lets you choose the plugin you want to use for each specification under a simple GUI and the Memory Card Manager lets you manage the virtual memory cards used by PSXeven and also other virtual memory cards used with ePSXe or DexDrive. PSXeven also supports many image types. Ranging from the default recommended ISO image to the BIN/CUE image and so on. If you have the right plugin, you can also run a PSX game of your CD/DVD drive if it's inserted so you do not have to make image backups of them.
[edit] Requirements
There have been no hardware specifications for PSXeven released. The developer, Xeven, stated that all you need is a good PC with a good processor, 3D card or graphics card etc. although it has been tested by anonymous testers that the requirements are more or less the same as ePSXe. As with any other PSX emulator, PSXeven needs an BIOS dump of the PlayStation console to run. ePSXe's requirements can be found here.
[edit] Compatibility
PSXeven boasts one of the best compatibility rates although it's one of the youngest PSX emulators. It's compatibility rate is that comparable to PCSX and ePSXe with PSXeven able to run 90% - 95% of PlayStation games perfectly with some glitches occurring as with ePSXe or AdriPSX ILE.
