Protothaca staminea (Common or Pacific Littleneck Clam) is a species of bivalve mollusks in the family Veneridae.[1] This species of mollusca has been exploited by early humans in North America; for example, Chumash peoples of Central California harvested this creature from Morro Bay approximately 1000 years ago.[2]
