[edit] Prefecture-level city vs. municipality

In case anyone was interested, as of today, "prefecture-level city" (or its plural) had ~12,100 Google hits, compared with ~260 for "prefecture-level municipality" (or plural)--mostly Encyclopedia Britannica and some Chinese official sites. ~ Dpr

[edit] "Prefecture-level"

I find the term "prefecture-level city" rather unsettling. Surely the natural English rendering would be "prefectural-level city"? "Prefecture-level city" sounds like a literal translation from the Chinese. Our ancestors didn't write English like this. Why should we? Bathrobe (talk) 02:12, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
