I think "Prešernov trg" (and obviously any other similar instances) should be translated as "Prešeren Square" (without the possessive). The only case where English retains the possessive that I could find was St Isaac's Square (St Petersburg) and the general convention seems to be to omit it (Tomislav Square, Jelacic Square, Brasov Square, etc.).
