Presunto

Presunto is the name given to dry-cured Portuguese ham similar to Spanish Jamón.
There are a wide variety of presuntos in Portugal; among the most famous are Presunto from Chaves and Presunto from Alentejo (made from Black Iberian Pig).
A wet-cured ham called fiambre is more common in everyday meals.
Two varieties of Presunto are protected by European law with geographical indications.
- Presunto de Barrancos has PDO status.
- Presunto de Barroso has PGI status.
