[edit] Fezzano: a note for future editors

The Italian wiki article it:Portovenere has a link to the frazione it:Fezzano. It’s a very short article and very likely it could be incorporated here at some point. —Ian Spackman 21:11, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stabo or Strabo anyone?

I wonder what was meant by 'founded by Stabo in 50 BC' in the earlier versions? I took it to be a mistake for ‘cited by the Greek geographer Strabo’ (which is what one of the other wikips has). But perhaps it meant ‘founded by Gnaeus Pompeius Strabo, who also founded Alba’?

Either would be plausible except that the geographer would have been about 13, while the general would have been dead.

Perhaps there was a Stabo? But the google hits for

portovenere stabo

are not many and are probably all sites sourcing stuff from here or de:portovenere. In this case :de: is doing no better than we are in citing sources.

Anyway, for now I have removed the fact. —Ian Spackman 16:55, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
