[edit] General setting

Anonymous user 69.108.99.140 has removed the Setting section out of the main Pokémon article[1]. Understandable. But I liked it so much I've moved it to this article. Cheers, Face 18:45, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stadium Island?

In Pokémon Stadium the location is unknown and its name isn't shown. It is also questionable whether it is an island or not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.195.74.28 (talk • contribs)

I play Stadium all the time and I don't see a region or island name. I agree, the location is Unown.--24.224.11.191 23:48, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] World

Has anyone ever made a Pokemon World map? We know where the regions are, but it would be easy to get a map. The pokemon regions are "Kanto East and Johto West as one continent near the center, Orre a little above that, Sinnoh far North of that, and Hoenn South West of that." Is that right? I can't remember where Fiore is, and the Island Regions are just out there near Kanto and Johto.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.224.11.172 (talk • contribs)

There is kanto world map... Ragnaroknike 10:02, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
What I mean when I made this was "Is there a map that shows where the regions ARE. There are maps for the regions, but there isn't a map that shows ALL the regions and there distance/direction of the other regions.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.224.11.172 (talk • contribs)
Kanto is Kantō, Johto is Kansai, the Sevii Islands are the Izu and Bonin Islands, Hoenn is Kyūshū, and Sinnoh is Hokkaidō. Just look at a map of Japan and use your imagination, there's very little coastline difference. And just assume the routes that are missing in the games lead to other regions. :|—ウルタプ 01:22, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
There's this. Doesn't show Sinnoh, though. --The Raven's Apprentice(Profile|PokéNav|Trainer Card) 14:31, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Orange Island and fiore is basaed on which part of japan? Ragnaroknike 14:39, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
We're not really sure. The Orange Islands are presumed to be based on the island chains off Tokyo, but so are the Sevii Islands. And as far as I know, we have absolutely no idea of Fiore since its location relative to other regions isn't given.—ウルタプ 00:36, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
I remember something in the Manaphy Egg mission, where they suggested that it could be hatched in eitiher a warmer or colder region. If I could remember what they said, we could determine where Fiore might be, since it is supposed to go to a Trainer in Sinnoh. At any rate, it would have to be somewhere near to Sinnoh, as that is apparently the only region they give as a possibility. - MasterXiam 14:55, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
The only thing we know is that Sinnoh's oceans are warmer than Fiore's. But we can't just say north or south based on that. I mean, the ocean off California is pretty cold.—ウルタプ 17:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
ウルタプ hits it right on the nose, that the game and anime take place in a pesudo-Japan landmass. The "cities" in the game also correlate to the location of cities in real life Japan - as do certain landmarks. However is this the primary continental landmass of the Pokemon world? That is to say: has it ever been mentioned that other nations exist, or is the distinction of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh are individual nations of themselves? Either Pokemon takes place in an "alternate world" and the entire saga thus far has only taken place in Japan, or the Pokemon world is simply a massive Japan-ish landmass (my personal opinion is for the later - but that's just an opinion). To be honest, I don't think Pokemon ever bothered to mention it's socio-political makeup, outside of the various criminal syndicates, the Pokemon League, and the various corporations... of course, that very well may be the socio-political makeup. 209.60.240.18 13:30, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
China, South America, and the USA are all mentioned in the games I believe. --Jopasopa 01:41, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
You know how all the regions are based on Japan? well check out this world map I made. It fits with all the clues about the pokemon world (Sinnoh is to the north of the others for example) What do you guys think of this pokemon world map I made? should it be put on the page?--81.179.69.168 19:37, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
actually Orre apparently isn't based on Japan. And I kinda doubt that the Sevii islands are near Sinnoh.--Marhawkman 03:29, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Orre is based on Arizona, and the Sevii islands ARE near Sinnoh and Hoenn, I found them on Google maps. The islands near the sinnoh region have a large similarity to the Kuril islands- One Island is remarkably similar to Kurup Island. As for the ones near Hoenn, they are based on the Ryukyu islands, and Five Island is a spitting image of Iromote island. I was thinking that The map should be put on as an "Interpretation of the Pokemon World"
I'm gonna have to file it under Original research. there's no evidence in the games to suggest that your interpretation is correct.--Marhawkman 22:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duelist Region?

Where does the name "Duelist Region" come from? I've never heard it called that. -Happy Mask Man 21:04, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I have a feeling that that's from Yu-gi-oh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ERAGON (talkcontribs) 17:42, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

It's from a Game that was a digital version of the pokemon card game.--Marhawkman 22:36, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestion

Could we perhaps create a template stating the different regions, whether they appeared in the anime/video games or not, and if so the seasons/titles where they did. --WoodElf 06:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

you mean this pokemon region template? Ragnaroknike 10:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey, thats a really cool template! Yeah, something like that, maybe not so detailed. --WoodElf 16:50, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pokémon Island

This area from the game, Pokémon Snap, is not included. Also, Pokétopia will be another area in the upcoming Pokémon Battle Revolution, according to its Wikipedia page. ChozoBoy 23:20, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

There should be a category for Poketopia alone insted of saying it in a small section of "other places". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.23.168.95 (talk) 00:33, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orange Islands

If Sevii, which is a game-only region, can be a "main region", then Orange, which is an anime-only region, should also be one. --WoodElf 07:24, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fiore and Orre

Shouldn't Fiore and Orre have their own Articles?

I think Orre at least should, appearing in both Cipher Arc games.

[edit] Fuchou

Is this a valid section of the Pokemon regions? It seems out of place and almost like an advertisement to me.JiangWei23 02:35, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

  • I think so too. I was trying to find the tag for "fact?" but I couldn't get it to work.--Marhawkman 02:39, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
It doesn't exist. Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day. Delete on sight. --The Raven's Apprentice (PokéNav|Trainer Card) 02:42, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
