Podsreda is a town in Slovenia. It is located near the Croatian border. It is famous for its market, which takes place every Sunday. It offers wood, food, metal products.
On a hill above the town is the Podsreda castle. It is probably the most typical romanesque (11-12th century) castle in Slovenia. It features a typical 12th century defensive tower (keep), a romanesque chapel, and two wings from about the same period. The orderly, rectangular plan is also typical of the late romanesque period.
