[edit] January 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Kitasato Shibasaburo, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Oda Mari (talk) 14:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I saw your message. First of all, please accept my apology. I'm really sorry that I took your edit as vandalism. Kitasato's birth year is 1853. See these pages, [1] [2] [3] [4] They all say it's 1853. (Even if you don't read Japanese, you can find the date) I didn't see the category when I reverted your edit. But it's obvious that the category is a mistake, you see. Now I'm going to fix it. Again so sorry my mistake. Best regards. Oda Mari (talk) 05:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] John Strachey (geologist)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of John Strachey (geologist), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9069866/John-Strachey. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:43, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Flags

Hi Plindenbaum. You eddited a lot of biographies lately and in some you added the flag. There was a consensus sometime ago, that a flag should only be used if it is necesarry like for military personel. We had some stupid nationalist extremist starting editwars about scientists like Copernicus or Prelog and the flag was sometimes a condensation point for stupid people. If it is OK for you, it would be good to leave the flag out of the biograpy table if possible?--Stone (talk) 18:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem! It would be no problem with 99% of all biographies, but the 1% kills all th fun! Thanks for your work! Nice to have everything updated!--Stone (talk) 05:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] URLs to PubMed

On James Herrick (and probably elsewhere) you linked to abstracts on Pubmed by placing the URL in the citation. This is usually unnecessary. Simply replacing {{citation}} with {{cite journal}}, and using the "pmid=" parameter in the latter template, will automatically generate a link to Pubmed. Even quicker, David Iberri's template filler will automatically generate a {{cite journal}} template on entering the PMID! JFW | T@lk 16:33, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Ok, changed --Plindenbaum (talk) 19:27, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Replace this image male.svg

Hello. Please do not add this images to articles that are not living people. There has been consensus that for non-WP:BLPs, this image really adds nothing and is an eyesore at best. By all means continue to do what you are doing otherwise. Thanks, Wizardman 02:34, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

But using this image could used to get an anwser to the following question "What are the articles about scientists who are missing a picture ?". Isn't it ?--Plindenbaum (talk) 10:10, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm not actually sure what you meant by that reply.. the way Isee it, it asks "do you own a pic of this person", which clearly no one is reasonably going to have a pic lying around that they took. Wizardman 03:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
... for example, using "Image:Replace this image female.svg" with "Template:Infobox_Scientist" can be used as a metadata about the gender to quickly find the women scientist who are missing a picture (e.g. Lilian_Gibbs Christine_L._Borgman Philippa_Marrack Jacqueline_Barton Ruth_Aylett Ruth_Patrick Byllye_Avery Ayanna_M._Howard Elizabeth_Blackburn Margaret_T._Fuller Cornelia_Clapp Esther_Orozco Linda_H._Aiken Helen_B._Taussig Catherine_Dulac Row_Lewis Suzy_Covey Candace_Pert Audrey_Richards Theo_Colborn Daphne_Koller Karen_Ramey_Burns Julie_A._Leary Francine_Neago Mary_Leakey Stephanie_Kwolek Charlotte_Auerbach Mary_Watson_Whitney Ada_Yonath Tanya_Byron Andrea_Ghez Ruth_Sager Marcia_J._Bates Florence_Nightingale_David Ida_Henrietta_Hyde Lee_Ann_Newsom Marie_Maynard_Daly Rosalyn_Sussman_Yalow Elizabeth_F._Neufeld Mary_Higby_Schweitzer Rebecca_Grinter Amanda_Chessell Shafi_Goldwasser Main_Page Manuela_M._Veloso Williamina_Fleming Mary-Claire_King Ann_Fienup-Riordan Ynes_Mexia Shere_Hite Amy_S._Bruckman Elisabeth_Noelle-Neumann Chien-Shiung_Wu Sara_Seager Shelley_Batts Samantha_PowerMaria_Reiche Lorna_Goldberg Cecilia_Payne-Gaposchkin Katherine_Esau Carol_W._Greider Deborah_Charlesworth Sandra_Postel Catharine_MacKinnon Susan_J._Kelley Marthe_Vogt Harriet_Brooks Cornelia_Bargmann Deborah_Estrin Hattie_Alexander Kathleen_Kenyon ...). --Plindenbaum (talk) 19:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Clinical cardiology

A tag has been placed on Clinical cardiology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Thingg 14:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
