Jake Site

Can you please stop deleting my fansite link? Jake himself praised the site and it has over 2,000 pictures and is a worthwhile resource for Wikipedia users to find out more information about Jake. While I praise you for trying to clean up articles, you are deleting useful information. Furthermore, if you want a boyfriend so much, Justin, talk to me. Haha! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.82.58.106 (talkcontribs)

Hey, thanks for the advice about signing and putting comments at the bottom. I didn't know that. And yeah, I was somewhat serious about my last comment. I'm 17 and gay too. =) And thanks again for not deleting my fansite. Nssnss 20:16, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd love to talk to you on IM sometime. Just let me know what type of IM you use and your screen name, or message me for mine if that's better. Nssnss 00:58, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for fixing the conversion at Van Nuys Airport. Lightmouse 22:48, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Why does it keep getting speedy deletion?

I don't understand the message. I have tried to explain the significance. Is this just a battle of opinions? Who decides if something is significant? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeneral rel (talkcontribs)

I was wondering that myself...

Come on fella ! you just jumped all over this site Captain (Historical and Romantic) WHILST IT'S BEING CREATED !! Give it a chance will you ? As a fellow Captain I thought you might be at least interested to see how it turns out, but judging by the complaints I find here, It seems likely I'd best not bother ! If this is going to be "a battle of opinions" then where is the point in even trying to add to Wiki if it doesn't siut somebody with the power to wipe out work, but not the patience (very dangerous combination for so proud a pilot) to see how the whole thing is going to turn out ? We might as well not bother ! The Stealth Ranger 09:54, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

About removal of an IP from AIV

That IP was blocked by another administrator. I removed it because the bot which usually removes blocked IPs and accounts appears not to be working. The blocking administrator then reviewed the IP's record and decided to unblock it. Academic Challenger 08:03, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Repeated Vandalism by User:202.95.200.12

I don't know about you, but I'm really getting sick of this anon. user's constant reverts. User:John, an administrator has warned him, and you, User:IanRose, and I seem to always have to revert his edits. I've tried to discuss his errors with him, on article talk pages, his talk page, and my talk page, but have had no luck. I'm wondering if we can talk to an admin, and perhaps get him blocked for a longer period. At this point, with explanations given, and no rationale expressed by him for his edits, it is little more than vandalism. I've kept John up to date on most of it. Any ideas? Sacxpert 04:17, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

I tried to get him blocked under WP:AIV, but apparently it's not considered vandalism. I would like to see him blocked indefinetly. The user doesn't really even respond, does he? --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 06:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually, we could semi-protect the pages so that only registed users could edit them. What do you think about that? --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 06:35, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Really? I would have thought that repeated reverts and removing links qualify as vandalism. User:John has threatened him with a ban, so I thought it remained an option, maybe we just have to ask another admin? And no, he doesn't respond very often; it drives me nuts. He did pose a question on my talk page, but he never acknowledged my answer. If we can't get a ban, then semi-protecting the pages sounds like a good plan, although I have no idea how to go about doing it. The other problem is that there are a lot of pages on which he plays these revert games: along with List of Mayday episodes, he frequently reverts Seconds from Disaster, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Seismic Seconds, and Tenerife disaster. I guess the first three are the worst problem, since they have the highest number of aircraft types that he reverts. If you think one or all of them should be semi-protected as an alternative to a ban, I'd certainly support it, although as I say I don't know how to go about it. What do you think? Thanks a lot! Sacxpert 07:34, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, if you check out Wikipedia:Vandalism and go to the What vandalism is not section of that article, his edits would fit under the Unintentional misinformation and Stubbornness categories. So we can't really call it vandalism. And as far as the protection goes, we just need to add the {{pp-semi-protected}} template to the top of the page. I think it should be applied to at least the first two of those you listed. I can do it, or you can, or somone else, either way. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 08:15, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks much for the info. How about if you protect List of Mayday episodes and Seconds from Disaster? Since I've already locked horns a lot with him, it might do for another party to protect them, and then we'll see if he keeps it up on other articles. If he does, then we can consider protecting them at that point. Sound a plan? Sacxpert 09:46, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Now protected. Let me know if we need to do anything else. I'll be monitoring as well. Thanks for the help. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 09:58, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, will do. Also thought I'd point out an AfD that I started, which could still benefit from additional opinions, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thai Airways flight 358. However you feel about it, I'd like your thoughts. Thanks again! Sacxpert 02:52, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Protection template

Could you show me how the IP edits are not beneficial to the article? I'm not familiar with the lingo, so I wasn't absolutely sure what was going on. I am an administrator, so I can protect the page if need be. Thanks, Nishkid64 (talk) 01:48, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

John Bair article

We weren't testing! We were trying to contribute/upload the article on actor John Bair but it doesn't appear via a Wik search —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Castingsociety (talkcontribs).

IP edit warring

I blocked the user for 1 week. If I see the user coming back and doing the same stuff, I'll re-block. If it becomes too much of an annoyance, then protection is justified. Nishkid64 (talk) 17:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Delta ETOPS 757 IFE

It has been confirmed that Delta will install the Panasonic eFX AVOD system on the ex-TWA ETOPS 757s. The mods will start in December. In addition to new IFE, the aircraft will get new seats. The 22 domestic first class seats will be replaced by BusinessElite seats made by Recaro. Economy class will also get new slimline seats, presumably also made by Recaro.

Here is a link to the A.net thread here: [1]

Therefore, I removed the {{fact}} tag, as it has been confirmed by a Delta employee. ANDROS1337 00:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Please read the page that the fact template links to. {{fact}} is asking for a source, not saying "This is incorrect". In addition, 'insiders' on a.net seems to not be a reliable source. Cheers --Matt 01:24, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Are you suggesting that the person running the MySpace has copied Wikipedia, or that the person is one in the same? --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 21:57, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure. I wanted to get someone else to look and see what they thought. The myspace and the Wikipedia articles look similar but different enough not to be direct copies. THe myspace is written in a style very similar to how Wikipedia articles are written and very differently from how I would expect most people to write about themselves. Van Sant Airport

Why that and not Vansant Airport? Just curious, not really bothered. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 10:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

That's a good question, and I did notice that when creating the article. I based the title off of AirNav, which I'm pretty sure is based off of the FAA A/FDs. So basically, I go with the official recorded name, and the one that appears on the airport certificate and license. Why they choose to combine the names on their website, I have no idea. It would be interesting to find out though. I may email someone on the website and ask them about it. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 16:16, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah, just found out that unless the infobox has "display=inline, title" it is no longer picked up by Google Earth. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 17:39, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, I'd let Reedy Boy know so he can change the Airport Infobox Migration Plugin. As far as the ones that haven't been changed yet, I'm sure we can do a simple find a replace with AWB.
I let him know and he replied and reminded me about this. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Yup, already read that, lol. Well you guys can discuss that on the template talk page. I really don't care either way. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 07:50, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Uncategorized Tag

Hi. You just stuck an {{uncategorized}} tag on Sensory Ethical Extrovert. I created that page about ten seconds ago. I didn't have a chance to categorize it.

I'm not blaming you in the slightest, but merely reporting an error with whatever piece of technology you were using to slap that tag on. I have no idea how it works and if its manual or not, but if possible you might want to leave pages that were created in the last minute or so alone. Niffweed17, Destroyer of Chickens 23:47, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

k, not a problem at all. just thought I would bring it to your attention. Niffweed17, Destroyer of Chickens 00:04, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Senseless tag

What the hell is your bot/script/whatever doing?? Fitchburg Line/Authors was tagged with a speedy tag. Why? Do you know the GFDL? Do you know that importing from other wikis is not enabled on this wiki and that thus splitting of articles can be done not violating GFDL only by making a list of the authors of the source article? And finally, do you know that it is *necessary* to inform authors of pages about speedy tags on their talk page? Where is this information on my talk page? Please do *not* use scripts until you don't know the basics of working here. *really harried* --Thogo (Talk) 01:27, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, sorry, I normally talk in a polite manner, but I didn't feel like doing so when I saw nonsense like this. It is not necessary by "law" but it's a bad habit not informing people about deletion requests. It would be much better if you would think about reasons why someone makes a subpage *before* you put any speedy request there. Yes, I looked at WP:SP before doing the work that other people were obviously too lazy for (namely splitting these two articles, which was requested in March(!)) even though I don't edit on en.wp normally (mostly because of things like this happening always when one edits here and really marring the work here). The thank was that a user comes and tags the license conforming page with a speedy template. I *hate* things like this. And I don't see any reason on WP:SP not creating this subpage. All three "disallowed uses" are not valid for this particular one (it's not a content fork, it's not a draft or the like and it is not encyclopedic content, just meta stuff), and I think you should have checked this before tagging with a speedy. Please do it next time. --Thogo (Talk) 02:09, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
You're right, it's not on the disallowed list, but it's not on the allowed list only. I think that's just because it hasn't really been brought up before. So we'll just let an admin figure it out. And sorry about posting on your user page about this. I have a habit of doing that because most of the people that leave messages for me are newbs and don't think to watch my user page in case I respond to their post. So to make it easier for them (and in turn, me), I just post a reply on the user's page. But obviously you are not a newb and I should have assumed you would be watching it. I wish we had a way to see who watch's what, but that kinda tool isn't going to come anytime soon. Anyways, hope we're all on good terms. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs 02:29, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Mayday (TV Series)

I have restored this questionable link but I have moved it to the external links section where it should be. But looking through the history it seems this link has been deleted more than once. Also looking through the link the only useful information that it provides could be found at another site without the potentially illegal downloads of full episodes or the fact it is a randomly created site on freewebs and could contain false information but for now at least the link will remain since people are raising problems about it. Xtreme racer 01:54, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

It would be impossible to know it he is correct because the episodes have not aired yet on television. But I would say generally Freewebs sites are not considered on Wikipedia as relevant external links as they can be made by anyone with a computer. Xtreme racer 02:04, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes but in the case of Freewebs or Google Page Creator it takes no effort at all really to make a website and it doesn't cost anything. That's why Wikipedia doesn't usually consider website from free web hosts as credible websites. But yes technically anyone could make a professional website with false information.
