Is it just me or does this entry seem a little plagiarised from the first reference?
I have information on De Gennes which is very controversial but 100% true. At the time when he was in charge of ESPCI he attempted - unsucessfuly - to cover up criminal behaviour by three of his staff against a student. The police eventually became involved and the staff members were convicted. There is solid evidence to support this - in the form of letters written and signed by De Gennes himself. I do not want to post this material to the main page before discussing it first here.DomLor 23:28, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I posted the above note almost 4 weeks ago. I received no feedback. So I have now posted my addition to the page itself. I repeat: I have all the documentary evidence proving everything I added to the site, and this information has also been publicly available for years.DomLor 00:02, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
A posting I had added was removed without any discussion or comment. Perhaps it was because of emotional response after De Gennes died. But his death does not change the truth of the information. Here is a link showing some of the press reports: (http://justice4t.freeservers.com/index_files/page9.html) And here are links showing facsimiles of the letters De Gennes himself signed in this case: http://justice4t.freeservers.com/index_files/page25.html http://justice4t.freeservers.com/index_files/page26.html If someone wants to debate this information or its relevance please post here instead of indulging in some editwar. Thank you. DomLor 22:14, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello Dominique, I have read the both letters from Pierre Gilles de Gennes on the web site (if you have some way to contact the administrator ask he to provide better scans please). I also read the both court decisions, first and appeal http://www.legalis.net/cgi-iddn/french/affiche-jnet.cgi?droite=decisions/illicite_divers/jug_tgi_paris_021100.htm But I did not any evidence of the involvment of Pierre Gilles de Gennes in Françoise V., Marc F. et Hans H. / ministère public, Tareg Al B. procedure. So until you provide such proofs I will modify both articles to reflect the findinds. Salutations DamienTerrien on french Wikipedia 89.86.201.202 20:45, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello Damien. The involvement is in the letters De Gennes wrote. He was director of ESPCI when these events happened and he received letters asking him to explain the situation. He replied by fabricating "inscription" procedures which did not exist, and he clearly wrote in his letters that the actual events never happened. De Gennes was not involved in the legal case, but his involvement was to try to conceal what happened. Thank you very much for adding the links to the court decisions. They are very interesting. Damien, I have added a paragraph that is totally and honestly supported by the letters de gennes himself wrote. I note you have been deleting everything about this story, and refusing to justify your deletions on the discussion page. On the other hand, I have always justified everything I have added. Please do not delete material withour making a written justification. If you continue to do this I shall have no choice but to report you for edit-war.DomLor 21:52, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
The only official text about this case is the court decisions that Damien mention, and there is no reference at all to PG de Gennes in this text. In the letters you provide, De Gennes says only that the espci can not accept the student you're refering to because of the negative report made by his phd advisor. This is clearly not a proof of the "concealing" you're talking about. Moreover, this story is only a minor event in De Gennes's life, and it seems to be at least controversial, so it shouldn't appear in his biography. Miaouss18 15:14, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Miaouss18
[edit] Classification
I have classified it as a stub due to the views of the editors. However, I believe that it could easily be classified as a start but would welcome the views of those more knowledgeable than myself about physics. Needs further expansion in due course. I have also changed his status from living person to general bio. Capitalistroadster 11:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
