I am Philip Auguste named for the great French King who reconquered much of what is now France from the Angevins and English. OK so I mispelled my name when I wrote it in as a username, bigdeal! I am fasicinated by the Middle Ages in the Holy Roman Empire, France, England, and the rest of Europe. I also am a history buff for medieval and Roman millitary achievements. I have recently regained an interest in the Napoleonic Wars. I also like to debate religion taking the side of Protestant Christianity. I like to learn about other Religons in those debates. I also LOVE France, and my family is French. In addition, my family is English, Scots-irish, German, Swiss, and Italian(by blood). But the swiss and Italians are a minorities in our Family. My larger point is we are of Frankish descent. My family has also found relatives from the 900s A.D.! No, family hstory is not what we spend all our time on! Iam also a devout Christian, a protestant. I believe,and love, Jesus Christ, son of God, God himself, and Messsiah. Bonjour Philip Auguste! I am so fascinated to learn about your interests in France and history. I don't have a drop of French blood in my veins (that I know of), but I studied French for 6 years in school and have been to Paris three times in the last 4 years or so. I am starting to rent French movies from netflix, as I just love to hear the language (and my French gets better all the time). We recently discovered a French bistro near us where our waiter knows that "Je parle un peu de francais", so now he makes me speak entirely in French and he corrects me along the way. That's also making my French better! I guess thia makes me an official "Francophile". Glad to know we have this in common! Barbara Holman (Casey's "Mimi")
