[edit] Categorization as Green politician

As I understand WP:SUBCAT, the double-categorization isn't appropriate in this case, but I'm certainly open to hearing arguments to the contrary. The problem I have with the double categorization is that it doesn't actually tell the reader anything new: seeing "Category:Green politicians in Canada" at the bottom of the page tells the reader that the subject is a green politician in Canada. Seeing "Category:Candidate for the federal Green Party" also tells the reader that the subject is a green politician in Canada. I understand your point that there is more specific information to be had beyond what the category I added expresses, but the trouble is that the current category doesn't actually provide any of that more specific information. If you wanted to create a sub-category to "Green politicians in Canada" that was something like "Provincial Green Party candidates", I'd be quite happy to see that added. Maybe each of the GP parties needs their own provincial green party candidates cat? The problem with the House of Commmons cats is, I can't search for someone who ran for the Green Party of Ontario, or the Green Party of PEI. --GreenJoe 16:14, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Sure. But could you do that with Category:Green politicians in Canada? I'm a big fan of more categorization rather than less, as long as each new category in an article tells the reader something new. Adding Category:Green Party of Prince Edward Island candidates would do that. Adding Category:Green politicians in Prince Edward Island would do that. So would adding Category:Provincial Green Party Candidates. I just don't think leaving Category:Green politicians in Canada does. Sarcasticidealist 16:22, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
The name matches the categories under Category:Green politicians. I'd be fine with the starting of any of those listed. GreenJoe 22:52, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
