[edit] Sources of Information

I think a good start would be to translate the article in the Spanish Wikipedia. --Aidanb 22:23, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

OK, the article translation is done, can someone with more knowledge of military terms check and correct it? Also, expanding the article, including sources and making it a little more objective would help. --Gabbec 00:21, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I left a comment at the Wikiproject Military History page, see here, hopefully we can get even more help for this page. P.S. Good work on the translation Gabbec.--Jersey Devil 08:48, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Order of Battle

I have a doubt regarding the 9th Armored Brigade. As far as I know, this used to be deployed at Lima until transferred to Tumbes during or inmediately after the 1995 Cenepa War. Where is it know? The EP page on the North Military Region does not mention it, neither does the one on the Center Military Region (which lacks details on its subordinated units). Does anybody have any info on this? --Victor12 21:57, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Specific Numbers

There's no specific numbers of men or material in this article and it seems as though there should be. Maybe one of us can dig it up? Useless Fodder 19:50, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Victor just added them, never realized they were that low. Great work by the way Victor.--Jersey Devil 05:46, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Victor has just received a barnstar from me for his outstanding efforts on this article. Congrats. Useless Fodder 08:43, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rocket Launchers

Evogol has just added

  • 12 BM-27 220 mm multiple rocket launcher
  • 10 BM-30 300 mm multiple rocket launcher

I guess the source for this info is Tecnologia Militar, N°1/2006, but I'm not quite sure on its accuracy. As I haven't seen the publication myself, I have to ask whether there it has pics of this systems in Peruvian Army Service. If not, it might be just unconfirmed rumors, much like the widespread references to Peruvian Army T-72s which are clearly false. --Victor12 14:20, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Victor I got that information from an article of the last edition of Tecnologia Militar, the article is about russian artillery in south american armies. I also changed BM-21 qty from 14 to 26 -- EvogolTalk 17:49, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Ok, but I'm not sure if this info is actually reliable. There are absoltulely no images of either of this rocket systems (BM-27 or BM-30) in Peruvian Army service. Does the article mentioned when where this systems acquired? All of the equipment acquired during the Fujimori regime has been made public either in military parades or in the course of investigations on corruption cases. Thus it's quite unlikely that they were bought at that time. On the other hand if they have been bought after 2000, it's quite unlikely that such a contract would have gone unnoticed. After all, BM-30 (9K58 Smerch) is a very expesive system. Check this link for instance: [1] Now you surely remember how hard was it to find $15 million for the two second-hand Lupos acquired last year. How did they found the money to buy this very expensive rocket launchers and still managed to keep it a secret??? --Victor12 00:08, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Until there's further confirmation of the presence of BM-27 and BM-30 in Peruvian Army service, I'm reverting the equipment table to the IISS figures. --Victor12 02:10, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Graphic of the Army Structure

I'm currently working on a project to create graphics of the structure of the most important Armies. i.e. France. I want to make also a graphic of the structure of the Peruvian Army, but the information at this point is not sufficient, as there is no information what units compose the single brigades. Does anyone have this information? Thanks noclador

I added today a provisional graphic of the Army of Peru structure. However there is no information available to me regarding the units of the Brigades (with the notably exception of the 113th Service Brigade; good work on your homepage 113th Brigade- thanks :-) If someone knows more about these units please update the article and I will quickly update the graphic. Thanks, --noclador 12:48, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks to a very useful link user IP:62.143.76.154 pointed out I was able to finish the graphic. --noclador 13:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the graphic, it is really cool. Just one minor thing, could you put your sources in the graphic itself or in a footnote? Thanks again, --Victor12 15:29, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I am glad I could help you with my link. Congratulations on the excellent work you're doing.
I added my sources to the image description: commons:image:Army of Peru.png and thanks for the kudos :-) --noclador 00:07, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks to both of you, it looks great!!! --Victor12 00:59, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
