[edit] Wikipedia

What is the purpose of Wikipedia? --Deskana (talk) 00:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, you're wrong, but that's not really surprising or particularly worrying :-). Wikipedia is a giant encyclopedia, and as a means to that end, an online community. The primary goal of the community is to build the encyclopedia. I've observed you spend most of your time messing around with signature books and suchlike. I would ask that you consider your purpose on Wikipedia, given that 11 of your 176 edits have been to the articles, and 117 of those 176 to much less relevant user and user talk space. I'm sure can understand my concerns? --Deskana (talk) 00:41, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
No no no, don't apologise. Really, it's not about you. It's easy for people to get carried away when they first go on Wikipedia, especially younger people. I get the impression you're quite young, am I right (You have no obligation to respond to or acknowledge that question)? Just think of things you like, and contribute to the articles on them. Stay away from creating pages like User:Pengwiin/invasion. I have none, myself. Please remember that people who don't contribute substantially to the encyclopedia end up getting their userpages deleted anyway, so I suggest you do some work before that happens. People donate to keep this site running and keep the encyclopedia up, they don't do it so you can have fun at their expense. And please don't talk to me about secret missions when I'm being serious with you. --Deskana (talk) 00:54, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
I've already deleted two of your subpages, and a redundant cross-namespace redirect that you made to your userpage. Please consider what I'm saying. --Deskana (talk) 00:57, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature

Could you please read WP:SIG and consider changing your signature. It takes up 5 lines of text in the edit screen and it's 470 characters long before wiki-markup. A suggested limit on character length is 200 characters. Thank you Ryanpostlethwaite contribs/talk 15:01, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Block

Based on your extreme lack of contributions to the articles of Wikipedia, I have placed an indefinite block on this account, deleted your user and signature pages, and your userboxes.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 22:11, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Your block has been shortened to a week. Please take this time to re-evaluate what Wikipedia actually is, and we would love for you to come back, provided that you're willing to put the encyclopedia ahead of socialising. Cheers gaillimhConas tá tú? 22:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Archive

Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices, but instead, to archive them. You will find how to do this at Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page. Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages is often interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil. For this reason, if your deletion of notices and concerns on your user talk page is to keep the "clutter" down, I suggest that you instead create archives for these messages. --Geniac 13:43, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Mona lisa.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Mona lisa.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:10, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
