Pemphigoid is a group of uncommon and rare autoimmune blistering skin diseases.

Pemphigoid is less common than the somewhat similar disease pemphigus, and is slightly more common in women than in men. It is also more common in people over 60 years of age than it is in younger people.

There are three types:

They are considered connective tissue autoimmune skin diseases. Bullous and Cicatricial pemphigoids usually affect persons who are above age 60.[1][2] Gestational pemphigoid occurs during pregnancy,[3] typically in the second or third trimester, and/or immediately following pregnancy.
