[edit] WP Christianity
Hi, I saw your name on the WikiProject Christianity Membership page.
I've made some changes to the WP Christianity main project page, added several sup-project pages, created a few task forces section, and proposed several more possible changes so that we can really start making some serious progress on the project. Please stop by and see my comments on the project talk page here and consider joining a task force or helping out with improving and contributing to our sub-projects. Thanks for your time! [edit] June 2007 Wikiproject Christianity Newsletter
The Christianity WikiProject Newsletter
Volume I, no. 1 - June 2007
|
- Project News
- Four articles are at FA level and sixteen are GA level articles. You can help by adopting a topic.
- There is a lot of work for this Wikiproject. Go to tasks to find out how to help.
- There are currently five article being peer reviewed by the peer review team. Please stop by and see if there is any way that you could contribute to those articles.
- It has been proposed by John Carter that the various other projects which relate to Christianity ought to all at least tag those articles which fall within their scope. That way, this project would have a better idea which articles do not fall within the specific scope of any of the other related projects. Articles can be "tagged" by placing {{ChristianityWikiProject}} in the articles talk page.

[edit] Semi-protection
The best way to go about that would be to request it at the request for page protection page. I can try and look at the history in a bit, but I'm a tad overwhelmed at this second, and may not get to it too quickly. Sorry. -- Avi (talk) 18:01, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Evangelical missionary
Are you an evangelical missionary?--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 12:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- No. Why? Paulrach (talk) 07:49, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just curious because I don't want to say anything you may find offensive. --mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 09:05, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- There's not much you could say that would offend me... and I think God is big enough to look after himself. I'm not being flippant or irreverent there. Personally, I think too many Christians (and those of other religious persuasions I suppose...) define God and then tell Him what He should be thinking and doing. This invariably leads to extremism of one sort or another. We may have differences of opinions....but isn't it those differences that make life so much more interesting.... Paulrach (talk) 21:46, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- BTW I do have friends (and in-laws as it happends) who are evangelical missionaries... but they're probably wouldn't be offended either...mildly annoyed maybe...but not offended ;o) Paulrach (talk) 21:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Simple English WikiProject
Hello! You are receiving this message because you are a member of WikiProject Christianity. I would like to let you know that a Christianity Project has been created on the Simple English Wikipedia and it is located here. If you are interested, please consider creating an account on Simple English and sign up for the project. Thank you!
--Andrew from NC (talk) 05:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
The article was never protected. (Another example of not necessarily believing everything you read on Wikipedia.) User:Mrg3105 is not an administrator (he's not on WP:List of Administrators), so he doesn't have the ability to protect pages. There was nothing behind the notice that was put up. I removed the notice. As I see it this is simply an ordinary content dispute. Under the WP:BOLD guideline, editors are within their rights to make big changes to articles, but they do so at their own risk. Other editors can disagree, remove the changes, and insist on discussion before major changes to an article are accepted. Assuming good faith, I'd suggest chalking up the "protection template" to a misunderstanding, write a note on the user's talk page and start a discussion on Talk:Prophecy, and see if User:Mrg3105 might be willing to discuss or negotiate the changes he'd like to make. Suggest taking thimgs one step at a time from there. Whether you think the edits should be reverted or not prior to discussion is up to you, just be aware that repeated back-and-forth reverting is frowned on and the Three revert rule is designed to prevent it. I'll try and keep an eye on it but I'll be busy next week, you might want to contact another admin if something happens that needs immediate attention. Best, --Shirahadasha (talk) 21:50, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

- Project News
- WikiProject Christianity Coordinators : The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers, nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct. The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Assistant Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.
- The nomination period for coordinators is currently ongoing at Election 2008
- Nominations for open positions will be open through 23:59 (UTC) on April 30 and project members should vote for any candidates they support by April 11 2008.
- The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The candidate with the highest number of endorsements will become the Lead Coordinator (provided he or she is willing to assume the post); the next four candidates will become Coordinators.
- Two new workgroups formed - Indian Christianity and Methodism
- Portal:Indian Christianity launched.

- Project News
- One of the new aims of the project was to produce a monthly newsletter to be circulated to members. This is it!
Priorities are still being discussed; please join in at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire
- Currently there are nine Yorkshire featured articles:
Sheffield • History of Sheffield • Sheffield Wednesday F.C. • York City F.C. • M62 motorway • Henry Moore • George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore • Stocksbridge Park Steels F.C. • Valley Parade
- There are also seven featured lists:
List of York City F.C. Clubmen of the Year • List of York City F.C. managers • List of York City F.C. players • York City F.C. seasons • Bradford City A.F.C. seasons • List of York City F.C. statistics and records • Leeds United A.F.C. seasons
Thank you and well done to all those who contributed.
- WP:YORKS is a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (3343 on April 27th). WP:GM has the lead in FAs. WP:YORKS is lacking in the area of GAs and falls well behind WP:LONDON. This topic was at the front of the new aims discussion and is an important issue for WP:YORKS.
- As mentioned above, new aims have been decided. See the right hand column for more details.
- Member News
There are now 45 members of WikiProject Yorkshire! A warm welcome to the 2 new members that have joined us since March:
No users left the WikiProject this month, but the list may need trimming to account for the one user who was permanently blocked and one who seems not to exist. There are also several who have not contributed to Wikipedia for some months.
The format of the member list has been altered to:
- allow easier editing for new members
- assist members to communicate more easily (by including members talk pages)
- allow member to keep up to date with each other's contributions
- Thanks
- A big "thank you" to all the editors who help make this WikiProject what it is; no edit goes unnoticed.

- Currently there are ten Yorkshire featured articles:

Thank you and well done to all those who contributed.
- Lealholm was nominated for GA Status on May 1st and has just received the review comments
- WP:YORKS is a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 3343 last month to 3509 on May 28th). WP:GM has the lead in FAs. There are now 45 members of WikiProject Yorkshire! A warm welcome to the 4 new members that have joined us since the May newsletter:
No users left the WikiProject this month, but the list has been trimmed to account for the one user who was permanently blocked and one who seems not to exist. There are also several who have not contributed to Wikipedia for some months. However it is the exam season :-)
Retiono Virginian (talk · contribs) has been permanently blocked
and
Malcolm Bryant (talk · contribs) does not seem to have registered on Wikipedia.(Let me know if I am wrong.)
Last month the format of the member list was altered to:
- allow easier editing for new members
- assist members to communicate more easily (by including members talk pages)
- allow members to keep up to date with each other's contributions
It had to be changed again before the May Newsletter went out to allow easier, more efficient, circulation by the ENewsBot. The Bot worked like magic last month but slightly complicated the signing up process, particularly for novice users.
- Thanks
- The Yorkshire Portal continues to be maintained by User:Kaly99 once again, thank you. There has been a number of suggestions on the ToDo list and this has been kept up to date too.
- The football and rugby editors have to be congratulated for keeping abreast of most. if not all, of the top clubs.
- User:Cyberdemon007 has made a lot of edits to North Yorkshire settlement infoboxes. Thank you.
- There have been more WikiProkject Yorkshire editors on vandal patrol on watchlist , just lately. Thanks it's really good to know that you have others in support.
- A big "thank you" to all the editors who help make this WikiProject what it is; no edit goes unnoticed. If you patrol the recent changes regularly you "get to know" the editors and their specialities quite well.

- From the Members
Welcome to the Sixth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.
Luckily, you all won't have to see my comments very often, as very little I have to say is really that important. But I would like to take the opportunity to say that I hope everyone finds the new General Forum page useful for discussing ideas relevant to Christianity in general, and feels free to make any additional comments regarding general Christianity there. Also, if any of you feel that you want to place a comment here in the future, please let us know what you want included. We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask. Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.
