[edit] School Background

Paseo Academy is most likely named after Paseo Boulevard, a main street in Kansas City, Missouri, which is one block west of the school. The high school sits on top of a hill with the Kansas City Middle School of the Arts behind it. The old Paseo High School building, designed by Charles A. Smith in 1924 and completed on September 9, 1926, was slated for demolition in 1990. It was not a performing arts school until the current building was built.

[edit] Downfall

Paseo was once known for it's strive for excellence in the many scopes of the arts but has of late taken a fall away from what it originally stood for thanks to the unfortunate repercussions of the school becoming a public school. Moral is low amongst the majors, academics is pressured where art should be being praised. Even though the school is thought to be an art school, it's hard to think of it as such.

[edit] Audition Requirements

Students are required to pass an audition to be enrolled into the school. Students can pick up an audition packet from the school or from the Admissions Office at 1211 McGee in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
