Paraenhydrocyon ("beside Enhydrocyon") is a genus of the earliest-known doglike creatures, described by X. Wang in 1994. They were about the size of a coyote, and lived during the Oligocene era (33.3 to 20.6 million years ago). The oldest fossil record is of P. josephi[1].
