Talk:Palais des Papes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If someone with more knowledge could update the captions on the photos to be more precise, that would be great. I took these photos four years ago and don't remember exactly which parts of the Palais des Papes they represent.

The subtitle of the first picture of a statue at the top of a tower is wrong. The tower belongs to a church standing next to the palace. The church itself was built later after popes left Avignon and is not a part of the palace at all. The palace's church (in fact two churches) are integral part of the building and very little of them is seen from outside. They are to the right from the main entrance. In the time popes lived in Avignon the palace was ment as a fortress aswell and this purpose led to very little to be seen from outside. Imho I would remove the first picture from this article. The second is ok and actually shows the nicest exterior part of the palace. David
- Yes, you're quite right. It's actually of the cathedral of Notre Dame des Doms. I've removed the image and will fix the contributor's caption. -- ChrisO 23:18, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
