[edit] Merge ?
Great effort Nostradamus. But maybe we can shorten the article a bit, and possibly merge it with Ottoman system in the Balkans into one article called something like "the Balkans under the Ottomans" Hxseek (talk) 07:16, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I already responded to you in your talk page (in a somewhat less than desirable tone). I agree that this could be shorter. My sources, I thought, put it in a balanced way. I usually try to avoid forming my own sentences -epecially in the matters regarding the Balkans. As you probably know it is very hard to make all the people from the Balkans agree on anything let alone the past. That is the reason I did not even edit or try to make the original sources sound more encyclopedic. You are wellcome to make such a transformation if it is warranted. I am sure the rest of the Balkanese crew will be around too. I doubt that some of them will like statements such as "Ottoman sultans proved to be great administrators ..." :). On your suggestion for merging this article with the Ottoman System in the Balkans. Both articles come from the same source and both are already long. Ideally encyclopedic content should be shorter but I could not break them into futher sub-articles. It is hard to compress the whole Ottoman rule of the Balkans into a single article. The Ottoman system in the Balkans is kind of too "technical" for an average reader. We probably need a glossary but I have been busy arguing with these Bulgarians on other articles which prevented me from improving these further.--Nostradamus1 (talk) 04:23, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
