[edit] Photos
I have four photos of the car, as built by the junk yard dealer. They are personal photos ready to upload. I do not know how to do that, or arrange them on this page. If someone can do that, please email me for photos. drivefastturnleft2000@yahoo.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Drivefastturnleft2000 (talk • contribs)
- I am the contributor of the comment about the junk yard dealer sending the car to Hendersonville. There is a comment added saying the comment needed verification. I don't know exactly what is needed. I lived in Hendersonville from 1976 until 2000, and the local newspaper put in stuff like this all the time. When they wrote about the car, I went to the House of Cash and made my four photos. I can verify the story, but anyone else could if they went to the archives of the Hendersonville Star News (local newspaper in Hendersonville, TN). - The unsigned tag is because you didn't sign your comments per talk page rules. Actually, for the first one you posted comments on the actual article, I put that tag there so people would know who made the comment. If you click on the word "unsigned" that's highlighted it will take you to a page that explains it. It doesn't mean you need to verify your life story or put your real name. --TheTruthiness 00:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
I changed the image of the car on this page into a thumbnail. The image was larger than would fit on the page, before. DannyBoy2k 11:15, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] do you know where car is now?
hi, saw you had pics of car, I would like to go see but cannot find out where car is now, would appreciate any info you have. thanks cathy--Catkellner 15:32, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
I have unfortunate news. The vehicle, being built before Ebay et al, was crushed in 1977. we have three more pics from the promo day you see on the main page, but they are my dad and johnny cash shaking hands, etc. nothing to do with the car or song. the gentlemen in the car with johnny are his manager and agents. the car pictured never ran. originally the song was not a huge hit, hence the promotional vehicle and pics. later, the song became a hit and a running version was "professionally" built but not to the song's specs and the pieces(doors, fenders, etc.) fit well together without the offset spaces and irregular body lines. meaning the car did not look like a hodge-podge like the song implies. i have seen a picture of that vehicle, but never actually saw it and do not know where it is now. 68.54.228.214 21:25, 8 May 2007 (UTC)kelsey fitzpatrick
[edit] The "Outro" reference
When Johnny sings the outro tag,
"Well, it's a '49, '50, '51, '52, '53, '54, '55 '56, '58 '59 automobile, It's a '60, '61. '62, '63, '64, '65, '66, ......."
that parodies another classic country tune popular a few years earlier. Anybody recall what it was and who sang it?
