Template:Stubclass
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
About this template
Some WikiProjects with very large numbers of articles have found it worthwhile to tag stub articles as {{Stub-Class}} automatically. In the vast majority of cases, a stub article is Stub-Class or {{Start-Class}} at best. There will of course be a small number of false positives but it is felt that the benefits of automation outweigh this negative.
This template is designed to alert readers of a talk page that the article has been tagged automatically and it is hoped and expected that this will encourage editors to assess the article themselves. Thus, bot technology can be used to stimulate human editors.
Usage
{{Stubclass
|assessment=
|project=
|template=
|category=
}}
See the example on the talk page for what these parameters mean and for correct syntax. All parameters apart from remove and extra are compulsory.
- assessment=a link to the relevant WikiProject's assessment department (create a page or a redirect if the WikiProject doesn't have an assessment department yet)
- project=the WikiProject
- template=the WikiProject's template
- category=a category to store the automatically assessed talk pages in. An example category is Category:Automatically assessed biography articles.
- remove=the text explaining what to remove from the talk page, if e.g. this template is transcluded inside another
- extra=any extra text before the "Thank you for your assistance!" line
Note
Some of the more substantial WikiProject templates such as {{WPBiography}} have an auto=yes parameter which incorporates this template or the same functionality. Using e.g. WPBiography|class=Stub|auto=yes is always preferable to using {{stubclass}} as a standalone template, because it puts less text into the database and is easier for bots to manage.
