[edit] Biography
A four-member R&B group from Chicago, One Chance—Rob Brent, Jon Gordon, Michael Gordon, and Courtney Vantrease—got their break when they performed for Usher, who then signed them to his label.[1]
Originally a quintet, the group's début was on the 2005 soundtrack for In the Mix, with the songs "That's My Word" and "Could This Be Love".[2] The first single released was "That's My Word"; a fifth member who subsequently left can be seen in the video.[3]
In 2006, their single "Look at Her" reached #25 on Billboard magazine's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.[4] Their debut album was initially slated for release in late 2006, but has been repeatedly pushed back. The last official release date, July 17, 2007, passed and the album dropped the J Records website's list of upcoming releases.[5] There has been no official word since then regarding the release of the album.
[edit] Recent activity
On March 4, 2008, One Chance returned with their new single called "U Can't" which was released as a digital download and debuted at number 90 on Billboard magazine's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart later that month.[6][7] In April, the song peaked at number 81 on the R&B chart and on April 15, the single was released officially.[8]
They made an appearance in Usher's music video for "Love in this Club", alongside Keri Hilson, Polow da Don, Robin Thicke, Kanye West, Diddy, and Nelly.
In a recent interview, One Chance confirmed that "tentatively, our self-titled debut album will be released by August-September 2008". Tracks will include "Now I Know", "Crazy", "Listen to This" among others. They will also be touring with Usher and Janet Jackson.[9]
