In 950, he is alleged to have founded a colony in Vermont, before Leif Eriksson's Vinland colony was founded. Cave paintings in the area suggest a relationship with the local Abenaki Indians that began as one of mutual suspicion, but ended in the near total destruction of one of their tribes. Tomsson left the colony circa 953, but mysteriously left a young Norse boy with the Indians.

This is one on of the more interesting bits of info about this guy. Even if it is not true, it is believed by many, so it should be explained why it is false on the article.Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:50, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
