In recent years, it has faced criticism as being a one-sided portrayal of the events of the Great War and, in particular, its leaders, such as Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig.

This sentence contains Weasel words who are the critics? If none can be named then the sentence should be removed. This is a piece of theatrical entertainment it is not a documentary. It was never intended to be a balanced all encompassing analysis of the war. --Philip Baird Shearer

Are parts of the DVD release missing? Having just watched it, my memory of seeing it previously was the the song 'Belgium put the kibosh on the Kaiser' was sung in the music hall as well as by the French on the carrousel, and that there was a scene where the French threaten a revolt, then follow their officers over the trenches while the sound of their voices switches gradually to the baa-ing of sheep.

Image:Oh what a lovely war.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
