Sam Obi Metzger, Jr. (born September 19, 1987 in Freetown, Sierra Leone) is a Sierra Leonean soccer player. He is a striker and plays for Atlantis FC in Finland second division. He is the son of Obi Metzger, who is a former Sierra Leonean international footballer and former coach of the Sierra Leone national football team.

Obi Metzger was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone to Krio parents. His father is a well known former Sierra Leonean international fooballer and a former head-coach of the Sierra Leone national football team. Mezzo, as he is commonly known in Sierra Leone started his football career as a sixteen year old, shortly after he graduated from secondary school in 2003. He joined Sierra Leone National Premier League club Mighty Blackpool, which is one of the biggest and most successfull football clubs in Sierra Leone. That same year he was the leading scorer for the Sierra Leone U-17 team during the 2003 African U-17 Championship in Swaziland. Sierra Leone lost to Cameroon in the final of the tournament, but they still qualified for the 2003 Fifa U-17 World Championship in Finland. Sierra Leone lost two of the three games at the tournament, including a 2-1 lost to Freddy Adu lead United States team. Metzger played in all three games and was again the top scorer for Sierra Leone with two goals. After the U-17 tournament in Finland, Metzger was among several of his teammates that refused to go back to Sierra Leone. He instead apply for Political asylum in Finland. In 2004 he joined Finnish club Atlantis FC yout set up. After one year he was moved to the senior team.
