The article sounds as if it was written by a parent who has a dispute with the school regarding the release of academic records.

I definitely agree with the above comment. It sounds to me like the author of the page has a grudge against Nysmith. I attended Nysmith in the late 80s-early 90s. I was easily allowed to transfer to a new school. Nysmith, in fact, highly recommended me to my new school: Flint Hill in Oakton. Every school has pros and cons; however, the author seems to use this forum to air out their own personal opinion. If one were thinking of sending their child to Nysmith, they should consult parents of current students and the faculty (of whom I shall be shortly). If this environment was so terrible, why do so many former students return to teach, like myself?

I think the article does get couple of things right - the fact that Nysmith's standards are much lower academcially now than even 4 years ago and the fact that Nysmith has become more money driven than it was last decade. Not sure I entirely agree that the school is against transfer and such though.

I have spoken to administrators as well as several parents who confirmed that the school does not hold back recommendations for students.
