Nylonkong

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nylonkong (New York-London-Hong Kong) is a term coined by Time Magazine in 2008 in reference to the cities of New York, London, and Hong Kong, respectively. The term is used in an article entitled "A Tale Of Three Cities" [1] written by Michael Elliott.

As described by Andrew Stevens, a CNN reporter, in CNN's Business Traveler (uploaded to the CNN Video site on May 12, 2008), "they are the hubs that connect the global economy... any big company will have some sort of presence here."

While the phrase is still new, it possibly describes a new kind of "megalopolis", one which is not defined by geographical location, but the impact it has on the global village.
