Novoeumeces algeriensis is a species of skink, commonly called a Berber Skink. It is quite similar to the European Eumeces algeriensis. Eumeces schneideri (Schneider's skink) is probably the more well-known type of eumeces. E. schneideri, though, has a more cylindrical body, and is thinner than N. algeriensis as a juvenile.
N. algeriensis has got a wider head and a shorter, more muscular body than the Schneider's Skink. You can also tell the difference between the two Berber Skinks by looking at the scales on their head. Also, N. algeriensis has got black & white stripes, which the schneideri does not have.
