Noshiro (能代市; -shi) is a city located in Akita, Japan.

The city is known within Japan for the basketball team of Noshiro Technical High School (能代工業高校 Noshiro Kōgyō Kōkō?). The city merged with the town of Futatsui on March 21, 2006 to become the new city of Noshiro.

Odate-Noshiro Airport in nearby Kitaakita serves the city.

  • October 1, 1940 - The town of Noshirominato and the villages of Shinonome (東雲村) and Sakaki (榊村) merged to form the city of Noshiro.
  • March 21, 2006 - The city merged with the town of Futatsui from Yamamoto District to form the new city of Noshiro. [1]
