Could this be merged with Wansdyke? The boundary changes aren't massive, and the only reason for the name change is that the district of that name has been abolished. sjorford (?!) 09:05, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Notional Majority

How can this be a favourable change to the Labour Party as the current (Wansdyke) majority for Labour is 1839 and the article claims that the notional majority (for Somerset North East) will only be 300.

Is this a typo? Do you mean 3000? Where does one get the notional majorities from? An actual definative source? I seem to recall that there was a lot of trouble at the 1997 General Election when BBC and ITV's election night coverage both used different notional majoroties following the 1992-1997 boundary review which led to conflicting information about gains, losses and swings.

The article actually says 'Politically these changes are not seen as favourable to the Labour Party'

The caption to the map states "North East Somerset constituency shown within the former county of Avon, shown right within England", whereas it clearly shows the former Wansdyke district as one of the Avon districts. Owain (talk) 11:05, 7 August 2006 (UTC)


The new Parliamentary constituency is now contiguous with the old Wansdyke district. (After years where the Wansdyke district and the Wansdyke Parliamentary seat were different). The map is therefore correct apart from it shows the other former districts of Avon.
