The North Link is a northern extension of the Central Link light rail line spanning about 28 miles (45 km) from Downtown Seattle to Everett Station in the suburb of Everett, Washington, USA. The North Link will compose of four lines/projects:
- University Link (Westlake Station - University of Washington Station)
- Seattle North Link (University of Washington Station - Northgate Station)
- Lynnwood Extension (Northgate Station - 164th/Ash Way Station)
- Everett Link (164th/Ash Way Station - Everett Station)
[edit] Routing
From Westlake Station, trains will travel in a tunnel up First Hill to Capitol Hill. The tunnel will continue north to the University of Washington and the Ravenna neighborhood before emerging onto an elevated route near the Green Lake neighborhood and into Northgate. Trains will stop here in current plans but could be extented north. Trains will continue on an elevated viaduct along Interstate 5 through northern Seattle, Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, and Lynnwood. North of Lynnwood, several routes and alternatives are being explored for light rail from Lynnwood to Everett. One possible route is along Interstate 5 for the entire route. Another route would run along Interstate 5, then head northwest towards Paine Field/Everett's Boeing plant at 128th Street S.W./Airport Way, and then travel north towards Everett Station.
