[edit] History

The idea of a team jumped in February, 2007 when Brendan Staley saw an article in the Brantford Expositor for a local tournament in June. He clipped it out and showed Brad Toncic the next day. In late May, 2007, they had joined with Tay Martin to form the North End Knights. Due to a printing error on the jerseys, they became known as the North End Eagles.

[edit] Walter Gretzky Tournament Runs

[edit] 2007

The Eagles entered the tournament with high hopes that were crushed immediately with a defeat from Welland. They went on to face the Eagle Place Eagles in a most controversial game that ended in a loss for the N.E.E. Still, they managed to make it to the quartre finals and defeat the Lost Boys. The Eagles advanced on the heroics of Addison Abrey, who won a crucial fight to give the Eagles the extra edge. In the semi-final match, the Eagles held off Razzle Dazzle until they tied the game with 12 seconds left. Goalie Brendan Staley fired the ball to the Asian Sensation, Joe, who shot it down the court into the empty net to advance to the finals against the St. Catherine's Cyclones. Another controversial game that ended in defeat, the Eagles placed 2nd in the tournament.

[edit] 2008

After much hype and excitement surrounding the tournament, the Eagles failed to win a game at the tournament, finishing 4th after a tough defeat to the Cambridge Jesters. The Eagles are hoping to rebuild for the next tournament in 2009.

[edit] Controversies

[edit] Controversy on Court E

In second game against the Eagle Place Eagles, the North End Eagles were subject to many calls against them due to the fact the referee did not like them. The Eagles almost pulled out of the tournament, but decided to stick with it, as they were promised better reffing for the rest of the tournament.

[edit] Cyclones and Steroids

The North End Eagles could not keep pace with the St. Catherine Cyclones during the final game of the tournament. Many speculate that the team was actually consisted of played aged 18-29, jacked up on steriods, and placed in the 14-15 division because they couldn't keep up with the adults. Many team members had full grown beards and told stories of their life in the early 1980s.
