[edit] Re: Stats

In here replace "Footbar" to "Professional wrestling". The stats will take about 10 minutes to update. Afterwards, it will say something along the lines of "Category:Professional wrestling updated successfuly!" D.M.N. (talk) 11:52, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

The Good Article Reviewer's Barnstar
Nikki, you quickly became one of the top GA reviewers, and you definitely deserve this barnstar, so here you go! iMatthew 2008 15:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

No problem, and I pretty much figured. I'll do that. iMatthew 2008 17:50, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

I have a question for you, do you think that GaryColemanFan is ready to be an admin...if he wanted to run for RfA? iMatthew 2008 14:56, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Thats mostly what I was thinking. After he works on that more, he has the potential to be WP:PW's next admin. Remember this? Just because he thought the project needed another admin...wow. iMatthew 2008 18:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:PCE

Hi. I noticed that you left several warnings on PCE's talk page already about his renaming of finishing moves in pro wrestling articles. He's been at it again - I thought I'd bring this one in particular to your attention, though it's not the only one he's hit lately. [1] McJeff (talk) 01:10, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re-Grade These Articles

Hi, nikki. I made a couple improvements to the following articles and was wondering if you could perhaps re-rate them on the quality scale (if they meet higher standards than they currently are at):

Ajstyles tna roh (talk) 07:56, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] PCE

Hey there. I saw that you had finals and whatnot, so I understand if you can't get to this right away, if ta all, but PCE is still changing move names, this time for Matt and Jeff Hardy. I don't think another warning is going to deter him, otherwise I'd just give him one.  Hazardous Matt  16:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] National Wrestling Alliance

Hi, on the article National Wrestling Alliance you rv'd my linking the years with the edit summary (partly) being: "(linking stand alone years without an accompanying month and day is not correct)". Could you direct me to the relevant policy please? I was always under the impression we link years, though I may have been mistaken. +Hexagon1 (t) 04:06, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

OK, fair enough. I was under the impression that years should be linked, my bad! Thanks for pointing it out. +Hexagon1 (t) 23:55, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ivybridge

You have removed Ivybridge from the Good article nominations as seen here. This is the second time that this has happened and the only reason given is "removing IP nom". It doesn't seem like a very fair system. If you were to look on the talk page of the article you will see that is being developed to Good Article status. P.S I don't know why there is a refimprove banner at the top of the article. Someone added it without saying why and I haven't revieved a reply a reply. 86.29.138.245 (talk) 15:55, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

At the top of the article, it states that only registered users may nominate an article. If you want to nominate it that badly, just sign up. Also, I agree with the ref tag. Sections with paragraphs with no citations include, Geography, Economy, Demography, and the last paragraph of History. Nikki311 15:58, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Can you nominate it? It seems quicker that way. Thanks for telling me which areas need to be referenced... I've been waiting a long time to hear that. I'd better get to work then! :P 86.29.138.245 (talk) 16:03, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
I don't nominate articles very often, and when I do, it is an article that I worked on 100%. I wouldn't feel comfortable nominating someone else's work, especially when I don't know anything about the subject matter. Sorry. Nikki311 17:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem, I understand. I'll do some more work to it later such as the referencing and add more history. After that I'll find someone else to nominate it. It takes a fair amount of time for the backlog to get sorted anyway... Just out of interest, are IP addresses allowed to do GA assessment? 86.29.138.245 (talk) 17:04, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jamel Lewis -- prod or AfD?

Hi, I know very little about professional wrestling. Why are the championship belts that he's won not sufficient proof of notability to pass WP:ATHLETE? I'm just asking to find out if this article should be at AfD instead. Thanks, Darkspots (talk) 15:32, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Project

Useight and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. iMatthew 2008 18:44, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] B-52's

This article has graduated from Start. It's at least as comprehensive as other B-class Georgia articles such as Danger Mouse and Monica (which is missing a pic). B-class articles are allowed to be somewhat deficient in refs--read the standards for B-class. Every sentence does not have to be noted in order to meet B-class. You are applying A standards one level too early.Rep07 (talk) 21:51, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Will Wright (game designer) is another example of a B-rated Georgia article which is below your narrow interpretation of the B standard, with explicit tags in the exact areas you are complaining of in B-52's. Take a look. I insist you downgrade this article; it is pure hypocrisy to leave this up while deprecating B-52's. Rep07 (talk) 21:04, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: quality scale being non-customizable--nonsense, many projects have project-specific quality tables, for example see B-grade standards in the following:

Wikipedia:WikiProject_Biography/Assessment#Quality_scale

Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history/Assessment#Quality_scale

It is telling that in most projects there is no response whatever to requests for assessment even followed by a full month of polite patient and respectful delay, but proactively changing an obviously wrong rating triggers an instant pre-emptive reaction--without prior discussion, courtesy, or delay. This clearly shows the presence of a common, and detestable pathological territoriality--passively complacent in a (false) sense of ownership, pre-emptively defensive in a non-collaborative way, yet functionally irresponsible and unresponsive to the demands of the presumed domain. I am perceiving that Wikipedia is probably doomed in the end, because as articles move up in size and quality over time, this pathology will spread like a virus among the many contributors til furious "little bigshots" obstruct and revert even the tiniest change to their "property".Rep07 (talk) 06:18, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE: SummerSlam

Yes. In fact, I was going to give WP:PW a notice later today about nominating it next week. Sure, I'd love to help; that sounds like a great idea. Who else were you considering help from? Also, in case you didn't realize or something, SummerSlam (1993) and SummerSlam (1994) are already GAs. So that means we'd have to get just the '88 article, and the main SummerSlam article elevated. –LAX 20:26, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm totally down, I can give them pre-GA reviews before they get nominated! King iMatthew 2008 20:38, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I think a better idea would be for a few users to work on it, and if others ask then work with them as well. I think it would be more organized if it wasn't completely exposed to the project. King iMatthew 2008 22:20, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok, cool. LAX is starting with '06, you have any preference you want to work on? King iMatthew 2008 23:04, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I was confused there, with the References section, because I was looking at Royal Rumble, and it was just confusing, sorry about that! King iMatthew 2008 23:18, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I haven't haven't gotten to looking over SummerSlam (1988) yet. I'll make sure to go through it in detail within the next day or two. Glancing over it, though, I see that it avoids the big problem we've had with our FA nominations. Since all of the sources are reliable, it might be a good idea to skip the GA stage and go for FA. GaryColemanFan (talk) 04:47, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Go ahead and nominate it whenever you'd like. I think it's a great article that has potential at becoming an FA. Also, may I get your opinion on something? Based on this and this, are CompleteWWE and WrestleView reliable sources? –LAX 21:16, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I'll still nominate it, and if I get questioned about the sources, I will use those links as my defense. With that being said, should I still wait until next Monday to nominate it? Or... –LAX 21:51, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I have begun a pre-FA review for SummerSlam 1988. It looks like a lot of things that I've brought up, but they're all minor details and I've mentioned that a few are just personal preferences. I should be able to go through the "Event" and "Aftermath" sections tomorrow (and I'll get it done by Saturday at the latest). GaryColemanFan (talk) 06:28, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] GA review: Alexander Alekhine

Hi, Nikki, thanks for the comments. Since there's a 1 week deadline, I've posted some responses at Talk:Alexander Alekhine. I agree with most of your comments, but there are a few where I'd like clarification. And the spellings issue is really tricky, so I'd like to know if there's a policy on names for which several transliterations are found in English-language sources. I look forward to your replies at the Talk page. Philcha (talk) 00:12, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Nikki. I've summarised the outstanding items (Talk:Alexander Alekhine#GA_review) and there's one on which I need your input - how to present in the main text A.'s tournament results 1927-35. Philcha (talk) 11:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

More work for you, I'm afraid. I'm dissatified with the current structure of "World Chess Champion, second reign (1937-46)", "Nazi controversy" and "Death" and have proposed a re-vamp as part of my "outstanding items" list at Talk:Alexander Alekhine#GA_review. What do you think? Philcha (talk) 12:18, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Nikki311, I think all issues have been worked on for Alexander Alekhine, so could you please have your final look and give us your verdict ? SyG (talk) 08:56, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Merci beaucoup pour la revue de l'article Alexander Alekhine! Vos judicieux commentaires nous ont permis de fortement améliorer le contenu et la présentation, et de franchir une étape importante dans la vie de cet article. SyG (talk) 21:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Nikki311, if SyG's comment means what I think it means, I agree - you've been a great help, many thanks!
Re your post review suggestions:
  • How big a problem do you think the article length (93 KB) is?
    • Alexander Alekhine was the first article in which we tried presenting detailed results as tables, because previously the results made most of the the text an indigestible catalogue of results. I've since tried this approach with Howard Staunton (60 KB), Wilhelm Steinitz (60 KB) and Adolf Anderssen (35 KB), who played chess in the mid to late 19th century, when opportunities for formal competition were much less frequent. AFAIK the tables approach has not yet been tried with another mid to late 20th century player (it's not a fun job, and Quale did well over half the grunt work on Alexander Alekhine). But IMO comparing Howard Staunton, Wilhelm Steinitz and Adolf Anderssen suggests the amount of text is the most significant influence on length: Staunton and Steinitz were controversial and historically important (like Alekhine), so there was a lot of text to write; Anderssen was simply a nice guy who was world #1 for most of 15 years. My own feelings are: a consistent format would be helpful to readers; it might be good to see how tables in the same article work out for 1 or 2 other mid to late 20th century players, to see if they works as part of a near-universal format.
    • Tyrannosaurus and Dinosaur, both former FAs, are 90 KB and 116 KB.
  • That apart, how much work do you think would be needed to get Alexander Alekhine to FA grade? (just a wet finger estimate, no grudges will held if it turns out different!)
If you find time to respond, please do so at Talk:Alexander Alekhine. If not, thanks for the time you've already put in. Philcha (talk) 11:09, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder about the SummerSlam review. I got back to the article and finished the review. [edit] WWE Wreckless Intent

Why did you go ahead and semi-protect the page? For a start off, that page has very little vandalism compared to other article; 2 bad IP edits in 2 days does not warrant protection in my opinion. If it gets to the point where there's several bits of vandalism from different IP's in one day, then yes, in my opinion it should be semi-protected, but for now I certainly don't think protection is warranted. Please unprotect. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 19:32, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
