I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 01:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Rebuttal to Unspecified Sources
The above mentioned graphics are the work of a government agency (U.S. DOT) and not copyrighted, so I don't think sourcing applies beyond what I've indicated.
- It would be best to provide a link to the website that you got the images from (or any other means you got them, like via email). Please link to a HTML page with the image on it. It is not enough to state "I got it from <x government agency>." as the source cannot be verified then. MECU≈talk 16:48, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hazard F.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Hazard F.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:51, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:USA WO 1 (test).svg
A tag has been placed on Image:USA WO 1 (test).svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] U.S. Army User Rank Badges
Just so you know, I moved this page to Template:U.S. Army User Rank Badges. Pages such as this should not be in the article space. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 06:52, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, Nickersonl. I noticed you've added links to the above mentioned template to the branches of the US military. I've reverted them, because notices of that sort do not belong on the articles themselves. It would be best to post them on the individual talk pages, or perhaps on the Portal:Military of the United States talk page. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply here, I'll see it. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 18:36, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- Honestly, I don't care what you do with it except do not put it into the article space. Pages such as that should be in the Template, Wikipedia (such as a WikiProject), portal or your userspace. Article space is only for articles. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 23:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
This is unrelated to the other discussion, but I noticed you uploaded Image:Al Faw Palace 1.jpg a few weeks ago. Are you over there now? I was on Victory in '05, my old unit (XVIII Airborne Corps) is there right now, in fact. Parsecboy (talk) 03:58, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:US Coast Guard E-1.png
Thank you for uploading Image:US Coast Guard E-1.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:19, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] U.S. Military Enlisted Rank Badges, U.S. Military Warrant Officer Rank Badges and U.S. Military Officer Rank Badges
All 3 of these pages are in the incorrect namespace. This is a good explanation of namespaces. The article namespace is the "main" namespace. Collections of templates are not for the article namespace. I know that you don't like them in the template namespace and that's fine. Honestly, maybe you should create a WikiProject for these pages. That is something many do when they have collections such as yours. This is the guide for that]]. For now, I'm going to move these into your userspace. So the pages would be at User:Nickersonl/ and then the page name. I'm doing this for your benefit because otherwise, they will probably be speedily deleted by someone else as being in the wrong namespace. If that happens, you will lose the pages entirely. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 06:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Excellent. :) --WoohookittyWoohoo! 12:26, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Nickerson Family Association
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nickerson Family Association, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --Michael WhiteT·C 18:44, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
