[edit] Relationship to Nicotiana alata

Is this really a species (as in, has a wild population), or a cultigen? Or is the distinction the article is trying to make between the plant grown for smoking and the garden plant more a question of cultivar versus wild type, rather than a species-level distinction at all? I didn't do much research but [1] says that Nicotiana persica is a synonym for Nicotiana alata. Kingdon (talk) 23:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
