The New York comptroller election of 2010 will involve the reelection campaign of Democrat Thomas DiNapoli. DiNapoli was appointed as comptroller by a joint session of the New York State Legislature on February 7, 2007.

Current Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli will likely seek the Democratic nomination for a full term in 2010. There may become opposition amongst other Democratic leaders in New York due to the appointment process whereby DiNapoli became comptroller. Other potential candidates include -
- William Mulrow - Businessman, primary candidate in the 2002 comptroller election
- Martha Stark - Current Finance Commissioner for the City of New York, received 56 votes amongst state legislators in the February 7, 2007 joint session which appointed DiNapoli
- William C. Thompson, Jr - Current comptroller for the City of New York
- Howard Weizman - Nassau County Comptroller

- J. Christopher Callaghan - Former treasurer from Saratoga County, New York and 2006 Republican comptroller nominee
- Andrew Eristoff - Former City and State Commissioner of Tax and Finance
- John Faso - Former member of the Assembly, 2002 Republican comptroller nominee and 2006 Republican gubernatorial nominee
- C. Scott Vanderhoef - County Executive of Rockland County, New York and 2006 Lieutenant Governor nominee
