[edit] Route description

Route 82 begins at a traffic light with southbound Route 124 in Springfield Township.[1] The road proceeds eastward, intersecting with local roads before passing into Union Township. There it intersects with more local and county roads as it passes through local regions of Union County. At about 1½ miles, Route 82 crosses a railroad track in Union County. At the intersection with Union CR 619, Route 82 becomes a divided highway, interchanging with U.S. Route 22 and the Garden State Parkway at Exit 140A.[1]

Route 82 continues through Union Township, intersecting with County Route 509, after the divided highway merges. Route 82 comes to an end at New Jersey Route 439 just before five miles.[1]

[edit] History

Route 82 (along with NJ 439) was numbered as New Jersey Route S24 before the 1953 renumbering, which gave the routing the numbers 82 and 439.[2]
