A tag has been placed on Neville Teller, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Hello Neville. Notability as we call it, the inclusion criteria on Wikipedia, is established by independent reliable sources about the subject. Though there are plenty of BBC schedule listings with credits to Neville Teller, there are no sources to support a biography. Trust me, neither you nor Wikipedia would want an article which can't be independently verified (see WP:AUTO). Copyright in the text of the article is a separate issue which would have to addressed. I'm assuming for the moment you would have the authority to freely license the text on your website, but this is kind of secondary to having independent verifiable sources. Hello. It's Teller, incidentally, not Taylor (you're not the only one - even Radio Times has, in the past, insisted that's who I am). For an independent source, try the drama writers section of www.web.ukonline.co.uk/suttonelms/RADIO1.HTML But if the entry doesn't fit the criteria, then by all means have it deleted. Neville

- We're getting there. The main criteria for sources is that they are peer reviewed or from recognised authors, which would certainly include the entries you list (but not as far as I can see, the website). The website(s) could be used for supplemental information, but not the basis of the article. The only problem right now is that I don't have access to these publications, so I don't know what they say. Perhaps you could help with that? We also need to address the copyright issue, since the text is derived from your website we need to establish a) you are he and b) that the text is under a free licence. The normal way to do this would be for you to add a note to your website (see WP:COPYREQ), however given the hassle involved, and also the appearance of a conflict of interest, I think it will be easier to delete the article and for me or another independent editor to start it again. The choice is yours really, though as it stands it will be deleted. If you can help with those sources... -- zzuuzz (talk) 23:23, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, zzuuzz, the entries in the various Who's Whos basically give personal details (dob, address etc) and a pretty full list of my literary and radio work. But perhaps I could direct you to the editorial para at the end of my article in the "Children's Writers' and Artists' Yearbook 2007" (published by A C Black) page 294. This article "Chidren's Literature on Radio and Audio" has appeared in the past three issues of the Yearbook (updated each year), and so has the para of personal information by the editor. As for the information in the draft entry, well I don't know how I can prove I'm Neville Teller beyond saying that's who I am! And I certainly own the copyright on what appears on the website. I'm quite happy for you to delete the draft entry and for you or some other editor to produce one, from whatever sources you choose (the website also contains a biography page on which anyone is free to draw). PS - Treasure trove! A look through my scrapbook reveals:
1. An article: "Agatha Abriged" by Elaine Wiltshire in Publishing News, 20 July 2001 ("one of the abridgers who began on the pilot project with us and went on to abridge several more in Phase Two was Neville Teller, who has abridged books by authors as diverse as....")
2. An article: "The Incredible Shrinking Book" by Duncan Minshull in The Guardian, 13 August 2001 "Neville Teller...mixing advertising and abridging for 30 years, he has recently shrunk.... He gives the statistics: you go from 100,000 words.... A question of balance, suggests Teller..etc., etc)

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article "Neville Teller", suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I assume that you are actually Neville Teller. As someone brought up in an home without a telly, I would count you as highly notable. However, Wikipedia frowns very strongly on autobiographies. I therefore recommend you to wait until someone else writes you up (there are a few oldies contributing here). And you certainly do not create an article with quotes round the title: "Neville Teller". -- RHaworth 18:25, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
