[edit] Stub

This is a rapid draft entry, documenting why this strange little book called the _Passing of the Bailiff_ is interesting. Is anyone else interested in Neville Lovett?

[edit] Twice Bishop

The strange little book was in my hands and I found the WP stub for Bishops of the C of E.

Lovett doesn't merit an ODNB entry. However as he was the first Bish of Portsmouth and the Nth Bish of the Ancient see of Salisbury, I was hoping that someone else would find out a bit more. There are many articles in The Times which mention him but these are mostly trivial.

The books held by the BL may aslo be interesting. Surely some sarumite or bishop hunter can find a bit more. There are also likely to be some descendants scattered around, though not bearing the name of Lovett. Hope that you don't think this entry waste your time. There may be some really interesting Trollopian stories around if you look further.
