Neumann College is a private Roman Catholic, coeducational college in the Franciscan tradition, located in Aston, Pennsylvania, USA. It was founded as Our Lady of Angels College with 115 students in 1965 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. The name was changed from Our Lady of Angels to Neumann College in 1980 in honor of Bishop John Neumann. Neumann seeks to educate a diverse population of students in a scholarly, supportive, and caring environment.

In 1997, the campus added three dorm buildings called "Living and Learning Centers" which accommodate more than 500 students.

As of fall 2006, 2,969 men and women students were enrolled in Neumann. The undergraduate curriculum is centered on a broad variety of subjects including Accounting, Arts Production and Performance, Athletic Training, Biological Science, Business Administration, Communication and Media Arts, Computer and Information Management, Criminal Justice, Education, English, Environmental Studies and Education, International Business/ International Studies, Liberal Arts, Marketing, Nursing, Political Science, Psychology, Sport Management.

Graduate programs are also offered in education, nursing, pastoral care and counseling, physical therapy, sport management, and strategic leadership. Neumann also has an accelerated bachelor's degree program for adults. It is known for its small student to teacher ratio, being 14:1, and its faculty members pride themselves on having a very strong relationship with their students. Neumann College provides academic support services in the form of free tutoring in general education courses for all interested students.

Neumann College is currently in the process of becoming a university. According to Neumann's website, on April 10, 2008 an application was submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education along with thousands of pages of extensive background material. The PDE will likely schedule a team campus visit during the 2008-09 school year to further evaluate the request for university status.

Neumann is a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference West (ECAC West). Both are NCAA Division III conferences.

In 2006, the men's inline hockey team won the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association Division II National Championship as a member of the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (ECRHA).

In 2006 the woman's softball team won the PAC championship.

In 2006, the men's ice hockey team was the runner up in ECAC conference tournament, losing to D III national champion, Manhattanville.

Neumann is known for its Mission And Ministry department which is completely student run and student led. The Mission and Ministry department has the most outreach programs in the area. Also, Mission and Ministry runs immersion trips and weekend getaways / retreats.

The Student Government Board consists of six positions, President, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Student Activities, Chief Justice, Treasurer and Secretary. Elections are held in April for the following school year.

The Student Government represents all the students at Neumann College. Part of the Student Government Board is the Student Activities Board. Over the school year the Student Government Board provides activities for the students such as skating parties, ski trips, bowling, movie nights and game nights.

[edit] Residence Life at Neumann

At Neumann college, there are three residence halls, called the Living and Learning Centers. All of the rooms are set up suite style with either four or six habitants. Each room has two bedrooms, a common area, and one bathroom with a shower, toilet, and two sinks. There are also apartments in a hall called the Annex; these are chosen by a lottery for upper classmen. These apartments have their own individual bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room.

Neumann college has a Child Development Center on campus. It is available to children ages 3-5 years old. The sessions are 12 months long and students can attend part or full days. The CDC is state licensed and allows Education majors to do observations, practical experiences, student teaching, and other education related work. The students enrolled in the CDC are children of Neumann college faculty, staff, students, and those from nearby communities.
