José Antonio Escamilla Vázquez was born in the city of Zitácuaro, in the Mexican state of Michoacan on 18 April, 1985.

Since his early years he has been interested in politics and leadiership. This is proven by his participation in a political rally held for a former candiate for governor on 1990. Since then, his family foud out that politics was what José was interested in. But was not only politics in which young Jose was interested in, but also History. He liked to read about Mexican heros and books about local history. When he was in third grade, he became the best History student of the whole school; title that he held until the end of his elementary school. One of the things that is remembered about young José Escamilla is that after the end of the daily transmitions of the his hometown raidio station, the national anthen was played, and he always ran to the firlst radio he foud in order to listen. This proved (according to family members)that Jose Escamilla was also a very patriotic young boy.
