Like Jenny Logan (Shake N Vac), Rula Lenska (Alberto VO5) and most importantly Howard Brown, the legendary Halifax singer, Neil Burgess/Barry Scott has found major celebrity status by selling household products. Some of these commercials have cult followings in the UK.

[edit] Other appearances

Burgess has also appeared in the music video for Real to Me by Brian McFadden. He appeared on The Bill as an axe murderer and starred in an episode of Weebl and Bob. He also appeared in a minor role in the hit film Donnie Darko, and is shown during the last few sequences of the film. He appeared as a paramedic in the last series of Waking the Dead and was (briefly) in the Stella Street movie. He reprised his Barry Scott character to advertise for Reckitt Benckiser's U.S. subsidiary EasyOff's new multipurpose Bam cleanser.

A remix of the Barry Scott television advertisements was produced and posted on the internet in 2005 by a certain JAKAZiD, sampling extensively from Barry Scott's dialogue. A commercial release of the remix was released on January 22, 2007.
