[edit] Shareholders Conflict
The NBB is in a long lasting conflict with its minority shareholders. The shareholders are demanding that a larger fraction of the profits be rendered to them, arguing that the Belgian state is getting an illegally large share.
The conflict reaches a hot-point at the annual shareholder's meeting. The meeting of March 31, 2008 was even suspended because of unrests. Video's of this meeting were later uploaded to YouTube, even though the NBB had attempted to ban all recording equipment. [1] [2] [3]
