[edit] Biography

Horler was born in Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on 23 September 1981 as Natalie Christine Horler. Although born in Germany, she has stated that she lived a very English lifestyle as a British citizen with English parents. She quotes "As my parents had moved from England to Germany a year earlier, I grew up here with them and my two sisters and still enjoyed a very English childhood." Her father is a jazz musician. When she was young, she recorded often in her father's studio at home. This experience helped her decide to become a singer. Besides singing, Horler loves dancing as well: she has taken various kinds of dance classes such as stepdance, jazzdance, hip-hop, and streetdance. She also acted in a few amateur plays as a teenager.

[edit] Career

When only 17 years old, Horler began her musical career, working first in bars and casinos, then a studio, recording tracks for different DJs. Eventually, she formed the group Cascada with DJ Manian and Yanou (known for his smash hit with DJ Sammy and Dominique van Hulst, Heaven), and began touring with her dancers Essa and Falk.

On 21 February 2006, Cascada's 14-track album entitled Everytime We Touch was released in the United States. Her best-known song that has been so far released is the debut single "Everytime We Touch". It was a world wide hit, peaking at #10 in the US Hot Billboard Chart. It also peaked at #2 in the UK Charts, went to number 1 in Israel Charts for 2 weeks, but did even better, peaking at #1 in Ireland for an impressive 6 weeks. Horler states at that time that they were overwhelmed at the success they had, suggesting they came along at the right time, and were very lucky (particularly in America, where dance music has hardly ever made a break through the charts).

Other well known songs are "Bad Boy", "Miracle", and well known covers such as "Truly Madly Deeply" and "What Hurts The Most" all with Cascada. Their second album, Perfect Day, was released on 3 December 2007. The album charted well across Europe, peaking at #9 on the Uk Album Charts. The single "What Hurts the Most" was a worldwide success in countries like America and Germany. It climbed to an impressive 10th spot in the UK Charts, did even better in the Swedish charts, peaking at #5. But it's highest peak was in France at #2, the same position it first entered. It also peaked at #3 in the Austria Singles Charts.

[edit] Television work

In Autumn 2006, Horler made her first foray into television as the guest host of the viewer request show Back @ Ya on bpm:tv, a Toronto, Canada-based cable channel that broadcasts all across Canada and some parts of the United States. bpm:tv specializes in playing dance and electronica music videos. Also in 2006, she appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly to promote her album, Everytime We Touch. She's also presented The Clubland Top 50, exclusively to the music channel, The Hits and has performed on countless television shows, mainly in Europe, one of which was promoting the UK version of Perfect Day on the UK breakfast show GMTV in 2007, performing Last Christmas live.
