"Nas Is Like" is the first single from Nas' third album I Am.... The song is the sixth collaboration between Nas and DJ Premier. It was popular among Nas' fans (especially those from his Illmatic days), as it was a change from the more commercial material found on It Was Written and The Firm. The song samples "Cantata of New Life" by John Rydgren[1]. The song also contains a vocal sample from Nas' previous hit song "Memory Lane (Sittin' in da Park)".
In the third verse of the song, Nas uses similies to describe his prowess. These include:
I'm like a whole lot of loot, I'm like crisp money / Corporate accounts from a rich company / I'm like ecstasy for ladies, I'm like all races / combined in one man; like the '99 summer jam.
At about 1:25 in the music video, NBA All-Star Ron Artest makes a cameo appearance.
