Nagaland is a state of India. The area's folk music is dominated by string instruments like the petu among the Chakhesangs and Angamis, and the theku. Flutes and trumpets are also traditionally used.

Dance is a very important part of life in Nagaland. Except among the Zeliang, only men dance, and it is always in groups.

Nagaland has also produced several long-running modern bands, such as The Great Society, rock bands Phynyx and Squadron and the 4th NAP Jazz Band, the official band of the Battalion Nagaland Armed Police, and the bluesy traditional singer Rewben Mashangwa.
