The documentary features Herb Alpert, the musician and record producer, at work in his studios painting and sculpting. The soundtrack of the film is co-composed and performed by Alpert.

The film is based on the museum exhibition, "Herb Alpert: Music for Your Eyes." The exhibition, was on view at the museum in 2001 and featured Herb Albert's paintings and sculptures he created (1978 and 2001).
