Rati Agnihotri is a girl from a middle class family. She once meets Mithun Chakraborty, a rich womanizer, a son to a well-known lawyer (Danny Denzongpa). After dating each other for some time, she finds out that she is pregnant, however he gets out of taking responsibility and refuses to marry her. She does not want to make an abortion as suggested by her parents and tells them that she wants to take Mithun to court. Due to this her parents chuck her out the house. But even after this incident she decides to make justice. She meets once Rekha, a lawyer who works for women's rights. In the past, Rekha was Mithun's father's lover, and as a result of this she gave birth to a daughter. Rekha doesn't want the story to repeat again and draggs Mithun to court. Rani moves the court against him, and quests for justice, which eventually she receives. After losing the court, Mithun decides not only to give his family to the child, but marry Rati too, however she disagrees. After winning the court, Rekha passes away as a result of a heart attack. Rati promises her to take care of her daughter, and establishes a perpetuation site to her memory.
